Batch:2012/Chittagong Govt.High School Chittagong Government High School is a secondary school in Chittagong city, in south-eastern Bangladesh. CGHS inaugurated its journey few decades ago. It runs into its academic activities along with about two thousand pupils. It has two shifts with 24 sections. History It was established in 1906 as Chittagong Modern English (M.E.) School. The school was converted into a Government school in 1917. In 1963, the school's name was again changed to Chittagong Junior Government High School. The school was renamed to its current name in 1977 and since then it has become a centre of Secondary Education in Chittagong City. In 2006, the school celebrated its centennial.

In Bangladesh 40% of all people are living in the slum areas or without permanent shelter in the streets. Most of the slum children are forced to work in small factories and houses in order to earn their living. Thus, they are not able to go to school during daytime and grow up without having access to education and missing the chance to develop their skills, often remaining illiterate. With donations from the readers of the German newspaper "Recklinghäuser Zeitung" during the newspaper's Christmas campaign, HOPE'87 was able to organize a "Mobile School". This exceptional school is located in a minibus equipped with school benches and a black board, offering space for 40 pupils.
